Publishing Technology

Publishing software built for how journals actually work

Journal platforms, submission systems and article infrastructure — engineered, hosted and maintained by a team that publishes. Standards-native from the first commit, and yours to keep.

Generic software makes you work around it

Most publishers end up with one of two problems. Either an off-the-shelf platform that forces your editorial process into someone else’s assumptions, or an ageing install nobody maintains, held together by plugins that broke two versions ago.

Amplionix builds the third option: publishing software shaped around your workflow, with Crossref, ORCID, DOAJ and COPE requirements designed in rather than bolted on later. Fast, indexable, documented, and hosted properly — with the source and the data belonging to you.

What we build

Journal platforms

Complete publishing sites — issues, articles, archives, search and editorial board pages — built fast, mobile-first and structured for indexing from day one.

Submission systems

Author and reviewer portals with configurable workflows, status tracking, file handling and role-based access that matches your real editorial hierarchy.

Metadata infrastructure

Crossref deposits, ORCID handling, JATS-ready article records and clean feeds for DOAJ, discovery services and harvesters.

Managed hosting

Hardened servers, SSL, CDN delivery, automated backups and uptime monitoring, tuned for the traffic patterns academic sites actually see.

Custom tooling

Batch manuscript formatting, bulk metadata correction, internal admin panels and one-off utilities built for the gaps in your process.

Migrations & rescues

Moving off spreadsheets, legacy installs or an unmaintained platform with archives, DOIs and article URLs preserved intact.

How we build

Standards-native

Crossref, ORCID, DOAJ and COPE requirements are design inputs, not a retrofit before an application deadline.

Discoverable by default

Structured metadata, clean URLs, fast page loads and search-engine and harvester visibility handled at the template level.

Documented and handover-ready

You get the source, the schema and the runbook, so any competent developer can pick it up.

No lock-in

Full export of data, metadata and archives in standard formats, at any point, including the day you leave.

How it works

1. Technical call

We review your current stack, content volumes, integrations and compliance gaps, then send a written scope with architecture, timelines and fixed pricing.

2. Build and deploy

Designed, developed and tested against your real data, migrated in parallel so nothing published ever breaks, and handed over with your team trained on it.

3. Maintain and extend

Hosting, monitoring, security updates and new features on a flat monthly plan, with a named contact and same-working-day responses.

We ship what we run

Amplionix operates its own peer-reviewed open access journals, including IJIRT, running since 2014. The platforms on this page were built to solve our own problems first — reviewer drop-off, metadata drift, late deposits, archive integrity — before they were ever offered to a client.

You won’t spend the first hour of a technical call explaining what a DOI deposit is or why a broken article URL is a real problem.

Built to protect unpublished work

Manuscripts under review are confidential by definition. Every platform we deliver ships with encrypted storage, least-privilege role access, audit logging, automated backups and a documented recovery procedure — so you can show who accessed what, and restore it if something goes wrong. Client engagements run under signed NDAs.

Fixed build, flat monthly

Platform work is quoted as a fixed-scope build, followed by a flat monthly plan covering hosting, monitoring, security updates and support. No hourly billing, no per-article fees, no surprise change orders. You’ll have the number before development starts.

FAQ

Do you work with OJS, or only custom builds?

Both. We maintain, extend and rescue OJS installs, and we build custom platforms where OJS genuinely doesn’t fit. We’ll tell you which one your situation calls for.

Who owns the code?

You do — source, schema, documentation and data. Nothing is held hostage on a licence.

What happens to our existing DOIs and URLs?

They’re preserved. Migrations run in parallel with redirects mapped and verified before cutover, so citations and indexed links keep resolving.

Can our in-house developer maintain it afterwards?

Yes. That’s the point of the handover package. Plenty of clients keep us on for hosting and support anyway, but it’s a choice, not a dependency.

How long does a build take?

Most journal platforms go live in six to ten weeks, depending on migration scope and integration count. You’ll get a dated plan with the quote.

Tell us what’s breaking

One technical call, no obligation. We’ll look at your current setup and tell you plainly whether it needs fixing, extending or replacing.
